Schubert Piano Co.

New York piano maker founded by Peter Duffy around 1880 and incorporated in 1885, later with a factory in the Bronx. It made uprights and player pianos and was known for its "Mandolin Piano" attachment, which dropped metal tabs between hammers and strings. The Lester Piano Co. bought it in 1932 and used the Schubert name until about 1937.
