Charles R. Walter
Charles R. Walter, formerly head of piano design at C.G. Conn, bought the Janssen piano name from Conn in 1969 and moved its production to Elkhart, Indiana. He launched upright pianos under his own name in 1975 and added grand pianos in 1997. The company is still owned and run by the Walter family.

Walter Piano Company, Inc. is an American piano-manufacturing company in Elkhart, Indiana. Run by the Walter family, to which many of the workers belong, the company hand-crafts its pianos in an Elkhart factory.
