Piano repair and regulation in Kiryat Bialik
Sticky keys, uneven touch, pedal noises and broken strings, fixed at your home.
Most piano problems don't need a workshop. We regulate the action and fix common faults on site in Kiryat Bialik and across the Haifa and Krayot area, usually during the same visit as a tuning.
Book a piano repair visit in Kiryat BialikWhat regulation and minor repairs mean
A piano's action has thousands of small parts: felts, springs, pins and screws that wear and shift over time. Regulation means adjusting them so every key feels the same, repeats quickly, and plays as softly or loudly as you intend. Minor repairs fix the faults that come up in everyday use.
These are jobs we do at your home with hand tools: freeing sticking keys, evening out the touch, silencing squeaks and buzzes, fixing pedals and replacing a broken string. If a problem needs more than a home visit can offer, we'll tell you honestly and advise you on next steps.
Signs your piano needs attention
- A key sticks down, comes back up slowly, or doesn't play at all.
- Some keys feel heavier, lighter or deeper than their neighbors.
- A note repeats poorly, or a hammer strikes twice.
- A pedal squeaks, clunks or doesn't sustain properly.
- You hear buzzing, rattling or clicking when you play.
- A string has broken, or one note goes out of tune right after a tuning.
What the visit includes
- Diagnosing the problem and explaining what's causing it.
- Freeing sticking keys and easing tight key bushings.
- Adjusting key height, touch and hammer travel where they're uneven.
- Adjusting and lubricating pedals, and silencing squeaks and buzzes.
- Replacing a broken string.
- A tuning in the same visit, if the piano needs one.
How long it takes
Most minor repairs add 30 minutes to an hour to a tuning visit. A broken string is usually replaced in one visit, but a new string keeps stretching for a few weeks, so it may need a quick touch-up later. A fuller regulation of the action takes longer; we'll estimate the time once we've seen the piano.
How to prepare
- Make a list of the keys and pedals that misbehave, so you can show us each one.
- Clear the top of the piano and make the front and the pedals easy to reach.
- If a problem comes and goes, note when it happens, for example on humid days.
- Don't try to pull out parts or objects that fell inside; we'll remove them safely.
Common repairs in Kiryat Bialik's climate
In Kiryat Bialik's humid sea air, wooden keys and felt bushings swell, so sticky and sluggish keys are the most common complaint, especially in summer. Strings and tuning pins can rust over the years, which makes broken strings more likely on older pianos. A dehumidifier in the room prevents many of these problems.
What it costs
Minor repairs and regulation are usually done together with a tuning. Our cost calculator's “needs work” estimate is about 400–600 ILS for an upright and 550–800 ILS for a grand, or up to 680 ILS and 880 ILS if the piano hasn't been tuned in over a year. Parts such as a replacement string, and any larger job, are quoted before we start.
