The M. Schulz Company was founded in Chicago in 1869 by Mathias Schulz, a German-born cabinetmaker, and was incorporated as a piano company in 1891. It ran several Chicago factories and also sold pianos under names such as Walworth, Bradford and Maynard. After the death of his son Otto in 1929, the firm closed in the early 1930s during the Depression.
