The Janssen Piano Company was founded in New York in 1901, with a factory at 82 Brown Place, and made uprights, baby grands and player pianos, also building pianos for brands such as R. S. Howard and Wissner. Around 1930 it joined with Horace Waters to get through the Depression. C. G. Conn bought the name in 1964, and Charles R. Walter in 1970.
