Emerson

The Emerson Piano Company was founded in Boston in 1849 by William P. Emerson as the W. P. Emerson Piano Company and dropped the initials after his death in the late 1870s. By 1900 it was one of the larger American makers, with a Harrison Avenue factory employing up to 300 people, and the name later passed through mergers with United Piano, American Piano Co. and Aeolian.
