Charles M. Stieff

Baltimore piano firm started by German immigrant Charles M. Stieff, who sold imported pianos from 1842 and began building his own Stieff pianos with his sons in 1856. The family company made square, upright, grand and player pianos and also owned the Shaw brand. It stayed independent through the Depression and was liquidated in 1951.
